AMAZONAS


Nature in all its plenitude. The largest river in the world where the jungle and the river become one.


The largest tropical jungle in the world. Each km2 can contain 75,000 types of trees and 150,000 plants, including the Victoria Regia with rounded leaves over one meter in diameter.



LETICIA AND SURROUNDINGS


A fantastic canoe tour in one of the most interesting places close to the Leticia, the lake Yahuarakaka where it is possible to see the sinful Martins, herons, egrets, hawks, and much more.


In the forest trails around an Indian Maloka, give the opportunity to see toucans, Titis monkeys, snakes, aracaries and spend unforgettable moments.


RESERVE MARASHA

Very nice reserve located on the Peruvian side of the Amazonas river. An excellent place for an appointment with herons, monkeys squirrels, macaws, toucans. And at night an excursion in search of the great Tapir, this large mammal that resembles the rhinoceros.


PUERTO NARIÑO VILLAGE

A small and relax village just in front Leratoyacu river, surrpunded by great terra firme forest and amazing set of lagoons and streams to take boat trips in search for Pink Dolphins and lots of birds.


ITINERARY 


DAY 1

Departure from Bogota to Leticia. Installation at the Amazon Bed & Breakfast Hotel and walk in town, principally in Orellana Park to watch hundreds of  canary-winged parakeets.


DAY 2

Breakfast very early at the Holet.Yahuarkaka Lakes, boat trip to watchkingsishers, herons, hawks, flycatchers, and much more.Lunch in the Lakes. In the afternoon, forest exploration near an indigenous Maloka. Good place for pigmy kingfishers, white chested toucans, fiery topaz, aracaries, hawks, Titi monkeys, snakes, frogs, and much more. Dinner in the Maloka and nocturnal walk to search for night fauna. Return to Leticia.


DAY 3

Breakfast early in the Hotel, departure from Leticia to Marasha Reserve in the Peruvian side.Boat trip inside Marasha Lake, lots of Hoatzins, herons, monkeys, kingfishers, macaws and toucans.Lunch in the reserve. Walk along the trails of the reserve, looking for snakes, frogs, deep forest birds, insects, and more fauna. Dinner and night in Marasha Reserve lodge. At night we'll wait in a specific place for tapirs to appear.


DAY 4

Early boat trip in the Lake for kingfisher and osprey (and more hawks) shots. Lunch and afternoon walk inside forest. At night nocturnal fauna searching.


DAY 5

Breakfast at the reserve and trip to Puerto Nariño. Installation in Casa Selva Hotel and short walk in the afternoon around and inside town.


DAY 6

Early morning trip in boat to Tarapotolake to watch lots of aquatic birds, raptors, kingfishers and grey and pink dolphin. In the afternoon, deep-forest walk to search for terra firme birds, also snakes, mammals, frogs, insects, and more. Return to the hotel after dusk, also possible to spot nocturna birds such as Great potoo (Nyctibiusgriseus) and Commompauraque (Nyctidromusalbicolis). Dinner at the hotel.


DAY 7

Early morning walk to Alto del Aguila Reserve where there are great opportunities to photograph scarlet and blue-yellow macaws on flight. Also Aracari, hawks, and at least two species of monkeys. Breakfast in the reserve and lunch in the Hotel. Walk in the afternoon to a close village through a very interesting trail.


DAY 8

Boat journey from Puerto Nariño to San Martin de Amacayacu (or Amacayacu Natural Park) for the next two days. At night we'll search for nocturnal fauna for macro shots.


DAY 9

All day exploration in this terra firme forest area. Lots of deep forest birds and fauna.


DAY 10

Breakfast, birding session and return to Leticia


DAY 11

Breakfast and relax in the hotel and flight to Bogotá.
